HeatherStone at Ford Mountain

Nestled deep in the mountains and national forests of Northeast Georgia, a stones-throw from the North Carolina border, the community of HeatherStone at Ford Mountain provides both a tranquil getaway and easy access. Surrounded by the Chattahoochee National Forest in Georgia and the Nantahala National Forest in North Carolina, the area is among the most sought-after vacation spots, especially during our mild Summers. The Blue Ridge Divide, which divides drainage between the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic, runs right through the middle of our property (see picture at right).

This upscale neighborhood is 15 minutes from Highlands, NC, 10 minutes from Dillard, GA and 2 1/2 miles above Sky Valley Country Club, with its beautiful and newly renovated public access golf course. It's also conveniently located 70 miles from either Asheville, NC or Gainesville, GA and only 2 hours from Atlanta.

HeatherStone is a gated community of 65 lots and 28 homes at the top of Ford Mountain (3,927 ft above sea level), with paved roads and fantastic views (see pictures at right). About 30% of our owners are full-time residents, while the rest are in residence 25% to 50% of the time. Of the year-around residents, some work full-time, while others are retired. We have a community water system with the purest drinking water you can find and a Property Manager who is one of our residents, so he's always available to keep things running smoothly.

If you enjoy hiking, you can trek from your front door to the top of Rabun Bald (4,695 ft - the second highest peak in Georgia) and back in about two hours. The scenery is breathtaking!

If fishing is your "thing", we have four ponds stocked with trout, bass and bream for your enjoyment.

For your health needs, HeatherStone is conveniently located 25 minutes from Highland/Cashiers Hospital, 1 1/2 hours from Mission/St. Josephs in Asheville and 1 hour from the Ronnie Green Heart Center in Gainesville, GA, with emergency helicopter service also available.
